Development Effectiveness

A set of principles agreed to by donors and developing country governments (originally in Paris in 2005 with subsequent meetings in Accra and Busan) aimed at improving the quality of assistance and its impact on sustainable development.

In September 2017, Adapt conducted a development effectiveness scoping mission to Angola focusing on how aid could be better positioned within the local political economy. The result was a proposal to refocus aid programming on themes of mutual interest such as improving the business enabling environment in a way that promotes the global good of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. By using Adapt’s applied political economy analysis methodology, the short mission was able to elaborate on how donors’ convening authority could be used to strengthen and partner with voices in Angola that have sway with elites and decision makers.
